Why do Care Costs Vary in Edinburgh?
Some care companies provide both council-funded and private care. It is important to ask relevant questions when talking to a care company. Here are some of the most common questions we suggest you ask.
- Does your company charge a fee for our initial meeting?
- Are there any extra fees, e.g. weekend/bank holiday rates?
- If I go ahead with your company, is there any initial admin fee for setting up my care?
- Where can I find reviews from your existing service users?
- Are all your carers members of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme?
- Will you find a carer that works well with me/my partner/parent etc?
- Will I have a small team of regular carers, or will it be someone different every time?
If you feel that 1st Focus Homecare is a company you can trust, please contact our office on 0131 510 7878, where we can discuss your care needs. If we can help you or your loved one, we can arrange to meet you in person at your home to assess your care needs. Once an agreement is in place with you privately or via the local council, we will build you a care and support plan and agree on a start date.

Why are 1st Focus Care Promoting Other Care Companies in Edinburgh?
Our goal at 1st Focus Homecare is to always be fully transparent with both our existing service users and potential new clients.
There are over 100 domiciliary care companies in Edinburgh. We believe that it is imperative that anyone seeking care at home in Edinburgh does their research before committing to any care agency. Too many people engage the services of the first care company they speak to that has capacity, but it is very important to ensure that the care agency you end up using is the best fit for you or your family.
When we visit a potential client for the first time, we always advise them to talk with 3 or 4 companies to get a good cross-section of answers to important questions.
You can view our latest Care Inspectorate Inspection Report from 2nd July 2026, and see the quality scores that have been awarded to 1st Focus Homecare.
